Blackhawk Modifications, Inc. Achieves 15-Year Milestone as Engine Upgrade Specialist

GENEVA — May 22, 2014 — Blackhawk Modifications, a leading provider of engine performance upgrades for a range of popular turboprop aircraft, is flying high as it prepares for this year’s European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE) and celebrates two major milestones — the company’s 15-year anniversary and the upcoming completion of its 500th aircraft upgrade.

“Since May 1999, Blackhawk has been proudly helping turboprop aircraft owners and pilots upgrade their aircraft with new Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) PT6A engines,” said Blackhawk President and Chief Executive Officer Jim Allmon. “Blackhawk was born from the idea that new, more capable engines would provide aircraft performance and value enhancements not possible through overhaul alone.”

Blackhawk engine experts will be available to speak with members of the business aviation community throughout EBACE (Booth 2237), May 20-22 in Geneva, Switzerland.

“We are proud to be part of this celebration, and Blackhawk’s success is a testament to their talented and hardworking team,” said Denis Parisien, Vice President, General Aviation, Pratt & Whitney Canada. “For 15 years, Pratt & Whitney Canada and Blackhawk have worked side-by-side to provide turboprop operators more power, faster climbs, and higher cruise speeds — and we look forward to continuing this highly productive collaboration.”

Blackhawk specializes in engineering development and certification of engines and has 25 Supplemental Type Certificates (STC) from multiple agencies for turboprop aircraft, including most King Air 90 and 200 models, Piper Cheyenne I, II and IIXL models, Cessna 425s, Conquest Is and Cessna 208A and 208B Caravans. The company has the largest installed fleet of STC twin – engine turboprop engine upgrades, and is the world’s largest non-OEM buyer of new P&WC turboprop engines.

“Maintaining lasting relationships with our customers has been a crucial part of our success,” said Matt Shieman, Blackhawk Board Chairman. “The constant engagement with our customers inspired some of our most innovative projects and helped elevate us to the forefront of the refurbishment industry. Even today, our engineering team is continually working to improve our existing products and expand our portfolio of new-engine performance upgrades.”
