PRESS RELEASE | Blackhawk Celebrates 10 Year Anniversary of XP61 Engine+ Upgrade STC

Blackhawk XP61 10 Year Anniversary

WACO, Texas – June 26, 2018 – This month, Blackhawk Modifications, Inc. proudly celebrates the 10-year anniversary of the XP61 Engine+ Upgrade STC approval for the King Air 200 series. With over 136 XP61 upgrade kits sold, this model has proven to be a game changer for the King Air 200 market over the last decade.

“The XP61 completely transforms the King Air 200,” said Jim Allmon, President and CEO of Blackhawk. “This upgrade delivers a 22% increase in available horsepower, which translates into maximum cruise speeds of more than 302 Knots True Airspeed (KTAS), increased single engine service ceiling, and shorter times to destination. We are proud of this program’s success, and we look forward to delivering the XP61 power and performance to many more King Air 200 operators in the future.”

“I’m convinced the [XP61] engine is the ideal motor for the King Air 200,” said Bert Bollar, Chief Pilot for Teton Aviation in Wyoming. “Even though it’s a [1989] model, I’ll put it up against a brand-new King Air 250 model as far as speed, performance, and carrying capability because of the excellent shape we’ve been able to keep it in.”

The XP61 upgrade kit includes two factory-new Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) PT6A-61 engines, P&WC new engine warranty of 5 years or 2,500 hours, installation drawings, STC paperwork, Flight Manual Supplement, Instructions for Continued Airworthiness, P&WC customer training from FlightSafety International, two-year subscription for P&WC engine maintenance/parts manuals, logbook, logbook case, cycle book, and aircraft decals.
